The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Some of the lessons I gained were the same, but many were different. Joshua is worth reading for the message it conveys, but the story is too dominated by the author's message to be considered an effective medium. What are the townsfolk to make of this enigmatic stranger? Almost all of the characters seem like caricatures and much of the dialog seems artificial. And are not his sisters here with us? This book was written by a retired Catholic Priest and I thought that the book would be full of rhetoric about the Catholic Church. Figurative Language: Comparing something to something else. He is besides described as a thoughtful and sharing adult male. Some of Joshuas critics of the Church are accurate, such as his anger at how priests live with so much money and comfort in their lives. Joseph Girzone's novels about Joshua, the carpenter who transforms ordinary lives with words of peace and loving actions, have sold more than three million copies and captured the hearts of listeners and readers around the world.
