There, a poignant moment has her teaching a very young, orphaned boy how to overcome his fear of the water and learn how to ride a surfboard. No one reviews movies like you do. Throughout the movie, Bethany Hamilton played by AnnaSophia Robb, always looked up to God and was a very strong Christian believer. Later while Tom goes to the hospital for knee surgery, both girls go surfing with Alana's father Holt and brother Byron. The good news is that real courage comes from deep faith in Jesus Christ, not just willpower. There are soo many great things about this movie.
They are understandably afraid of the water, including a little boy. Robb plays her as plucky, but no Pollyanna. Although this was until Halloween morning in 2003. The Hamiltons are grateful to Holt for his quick thinking and decisive action that saved her life. David Rovinsky is called to the emergency room to treat Bethany. I applaud her faith and spirit.
